Description

A simple recipe to create your own sourdough starter from scratch.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  1. In a clean glass jar, mix the flour and water until combined.
  2. Cover the jar loosely with a cloth or lid to allow airflow.
  3. Let the mixture sit at room temperature for 24 hours.
  4. After 24 hours, feed the starter with another cup of flour and another cup of water.
  5. Repeat the feeding process every 24 hours for 5 to 7 days until bubbles form and it doubles in size.

Notes

  • Use filtered or bottled water for best results.
  • Keep the starter in a warm place, ideally around 70°F to 75°F.
  • Discard half of the starter before each feeding to maintain balance.
