Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each.
- Stir in milk and vanilla.
- In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, and cocoa powder.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, mixing until smooth.
- If desired, add red food coloring to achieve a pink hue.
- Pour batter into prepared pans and smooth the top.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let cakes cool before removing from pans.
