Description
Traditional Irish soda bread is a simple and hearty bread made without yeast. It uses baking soda as a leavening agent.

- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 3/4 cups buttermilk
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a large bowl, mix flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Make a well in the center and pour in the buttermilk.
- Stir until the dough comes together.
- Knead the dough lightly on a floured surface.
- Shape into a round loaf and place on a baking sheet.
- Cut a cross on the top of the loaf.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden.
Notes
- Serve warm with butter.
- Store in an airtight container.
- Can add raisins or caraway seeds for variation.
