- 4 large sweet potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup pecans, chopped
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large pot, boil the sweet potatoes until tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain and mash until smooth.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the mashed sweet potatoes, milk, melted butter, brown sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt. Mix until well combined.
- Spread the sweet potato mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
- In another bowl, mix the chopped pecans, all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, and melted butter until the pecans are well coated.
- Sprinkle the pecan topping evenly over the sweet potato mixture.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the casserole is heated through.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
- Feel free to add mini marshmallows on top for extra sweetness.
- You can prepare the sweet potato mixture a day in advance and store it in the refrigerator. Just add the topping before baking.
