  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup mini marshmallows (optional)
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, mash the canned yams until smooth.
  3. Add brown sugar, milk, melted butter, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg to the mashed yams. Mix until well combined.
  4. Transfer the sweet potato mixture to a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  5. If desired, sprinkle mini marshmallows and chopped pecans on top.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until heated through and the marshmallows are golden brown.
