Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a mini muffin tin.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix together the melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts if using.
  6. Spoon the batter into the mini muffin tin, filling each cup about 2/3 full.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Let the treats cool in the tin for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Once cooled, dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

  • These little bites can be customized with different mix-ins like dried fruit or different types of chocolate.
  • For an extra special touch, serve them with a side of whipped cream or serve in cute little paper liners.
