- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Add butter and milk; mix until smooth.
- Beat in eggs until well combined.
- Pour batter into prepared pans.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool cakes in pans for 10 minutes, then turn out onto wire racks to cool completely.
- Whip cream with powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
- Assemble the cake by placing one layer on a plate, topping with strawberries and whipped cream. Add the second layer and repeat.
Notes
- Use ripe strawberries for the best flavor.
- Chill the mixing bowl and beaters before whipping cream.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator.
