Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  3. In a bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  6. In another bowl, combine the flour and baking powder.
  7. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with milk.
  8. Fold in the fresh berries gently.
  9. Pour the batter into prepared pans and smooth the tops.
  10. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  11. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks.
  12. Once cooled, layer the cakes with whipped cream and decorate with more berries.
