Creamy and cheesy scalloped potatoes that are baked to perfection.
Ingredients

- 4 large potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 2 tablespoons butter
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a greased baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes.
- Sprinkle half of the sliced onions and half of the minced garlic over the potatoes.
- Pour half of the heavy cream over the layer, then sprinkle with half of the salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
- Add half of the shredded cheddar cheese on top.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients, finishing with a layer of cheese on top.
- Dot the top with small pieces of butter.
- Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the top is golden brown.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, add cooked bacon or ham to the layers.
- You can use different types of cheese such as Gruyere or Monterey Jack for variation.
- Make sure to slice the potatoes evenly for consistent cooking.
