  • 1/2 cup (60g) cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) vegetable oil, for frying
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) orange juice
  • 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon green onions, chopped, for garnish
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, toss the chicken pieces with cornstarch until well coated.
  2. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the chicken pieces in batches, frying until golden brown and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the orange juice, sugar, soy sauce, rice vinegar, garlic powder, ginger, and sesame oil.
  4. Pour the orange sauce into the skillet and bring to a simmer over medium heat.
  5. Add the fried chicken back into the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce, cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with chopped green onions and sesame seeds, if desired.
