Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb (450g) boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1/2 cup (60g) cornstarch
- 1/2 cup (120ml) vegetable oil, for frying
- 1/2 cup (120ml) orange juice
- 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon green onions, chopped, for garnish
- Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a bowl, toss the chicken pieces with cornstarch until well coated.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the chicken pieces in batches, frying until golden brown and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the orange juice, sugar, soy sauce, rice vinegar, garlic powder, ginger, and sesame oil.
- Pour the orange sauce into the skillet and bring to a simmer over medium heat.
- Add the fried chicken back into the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce, cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
- Serve hot, garnished with chopped green onions and sesame seeds, if desired.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, double fry the chicken by letting it rest for a few minutes before frying again.
- Feel free to add vegetables like bell peppers or broccoli for a complete meal.
- Serve with steamed rice or fried rice for a delicious dinner.
