Description
This New York Style Pizza recipe yields a classic, thin crust pizza that is crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside, topped with a flavorful tomato sauce and gooey mozzarella cheese. Perfect for any pizza night!

- 4 cups (500g) bread flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon instant yeast
- 1 1/2 cups (360ml) warm water (about 110°F)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 cup (240ml) tomato sauce
- 2 cups (200g) shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano (optional)
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the bread flour, salt, sugar, and instant yeast. Mix well.
- Gradually add the warm water and olive oil, mixing until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 to 2 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to its highest setting (usually around 500°F or 260°C) and place a pizza stone or baking sheet inside to heat up.
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into two equal portions for two pizzas.
- On a floured surface, stretch or roll out one portion of the dough to your desired thickness (about 12 inches in diameter).
- Transfer the dough to a piece of parchment paper. Top with half of the tomato sauce, spreading it evenly.
- Sprinkle half of the shredded mozzarella cheese on top, followed by oregano if using.
- Carefully slide the pizza (with parchment) onto the preheated stone or baking sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
- Remove the pizza from the oven, garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired, and slice. Repeat with the second portion of dough.
Notes
- For a crispier crust, bake the pizza directly on the stone without parchment.
- You can customize your toppings as desired, including pepperoni, vegetables, or other cheeses.
- To store leftovers, place the slices in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
