Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease a baking sheet.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cut in cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in milk and vanilla until just combined.
  5. Drop dough onto the baking sheet in 6 equal portions.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden. Let cool.
  7. Whip cream with powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.
  8. Slice each shortcake in half. Layer with strawberries and whipped cream.
  9. Top with the other half of the shortcake and extra strawberries.
