Ingredients

- 1 cup of lentils
- 2 cups of water
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon of olive oil
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper to taste
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 teaspoon of cumin
Instructions
- Rinse the lentils under cold water.
- In a pot, heat olive oil over medium heat.
- Add chopped onion and minced garlic; sauté until softened.
- Add lentils, water, bay leaf, cumin, salt, and pepper.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 20-25 minutes.
- Remove bay leaf and serve hot.

- Soak lentils overnight for faster cooking.
- Serve with rice or bread for a complete meal.
