Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup water
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Vegetable oil for frying
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for rolling)
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine water, 2 tablespoons of sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
- Remove from heat and stir in flour until mixture forms a ball. Let cool for 5 minutes.
- Add eggs and vanilla extract to the dough, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Heat oil in a deep skillet over medium-high heat.
- Transfer dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip.
- Pipe 4-6 inch strips of dough into hot oil, cutting with scissors as needed.
- Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- In a shallow bowl, combine 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon. Roll warm churros in sugar mixture to coat.
- Serve immediately with chocolate sauce or dulce de leche for dipping.
Notes
- Make sure the oil is hot enough before frying to avoid soggy churros.
- You can also fill churros with chocolate or caramel for an extra treat.
- Leftover churros can be reheated in the oven for a crispy texture.
