Mexican desserts: Perfect Churros for Irresistible Sweetness

Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and rolled in cinnamon sugar, these churros are the perfect Mexican dessert.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for rolling)
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine water, 2 tablespoons of sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
  2. Remove from heat and stir in flour until mixture forms a ball. Let cool for 5 minutes.
  3. Add eggs and vanilla extract to the dough, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Heat oil in a deep skillet over medium-high heat.
  5. Transfer dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip.
  6. Pipe 4-6 inch strips of dough into hot oil, cutting with scissors as needed.
  7. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  8. In a shallow bowl, combine 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon. Roll warm churros in sugar mixture to coat.
  9. Serve immediately with chocolate sauce or dulce de leche for dipping.

Notes

  • Make sure the oil is hot enough before frying to avoid soggy churros.
  • You can also fill churros with chocolate or caramel for an extra treat.
  • Leftover churros can be reheated in the oven for a crispy texture.
