This festive trifle is a delightful dessert for Memorial Day, featuring layers of cake, whipped cream, and fresh berries in patriotic colors.

- 1 pound of strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 1 pound of blueberries, rinsed
- 2 cups of whipped cream
- 1 pound of pound cake, cut into cubes
- 1/4 cup of powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- Mint leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine the whipped cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined and smooth.
- In a large trifle dish or glass bowl, layer half of the pound cake cubes at the bottom.
- Add a layer of half of the whipped cream mixture over the cake cubes.
- Layer half of the strawberries and blueberries on top of the whipped cream.
- Repeat the layering process with the remaining pound cake, whipped cream, and berries.
- Garnish with mint leaves if desired. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving.
Notes
- For a lighter version, use angel food cake instead of pound cake.
