  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar (optional)

Instructions

  1. Place the sweet potato chunks in a large pot. Fill with water to cover the potatoes by about an inch.
  2. Bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce heat to medium and let simmer until the sweet potatoes are tender, about 15-20 minutes.
  3. Drain the sweet potatoes and return them to the pot.
  4. Add the milk, butter, salt, pepper, and cinnamon (if using) to the sweet potatoes.
  5. Mash the sweet potatoes with a potato masher or fork until smooth and creamy.
  6. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. You can add brown sugar for sweetness if desired.
