- 8 ounces elbow macaroni
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 3 cups milk
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
Instructions
- Cook the macaroni according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Whisk in the flour and cook for about 1 minute, stirring constantly.
- Gradually add the milk, continuing to whisk until the mixture is smooth and thickened.
- Stir in the cheddar cheese, Parmesan cheese, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder until the cheese is melted and the sauce is creamy.
- Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce and stir until well combined.
- Serve immediately, or transfer to a baking dish and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20 minutes for a baked version.
