Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 cup beef broth

Instructions

  1. Mix ground beef, egg, breadcrumbs, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce in a bowl.
  2. Form into 4 equal patties.
  3. Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat and cook the patties for 4-5 minutes per side. Set aside.
  4. In the same pan, melt butter and add onions. Cook until caramelized, about 10 minutes.
  5. Sprinkle sugar over onions and stir until dissolved.
  6. Pour beef broth into the pan and simmer until slightly thickened.
  7. Return patties to the pan and coat with the onion sauce.
  8. Serve hot.
