- 1 whole turkey (12–14 lbs)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 tbsp salt
- 1 tbsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp onion powder
- 1 tbsp dried thyme
- 1 tbsp dried rosemary
- 1 lemon, halved
- 1 onion, quartered
- 2 carrots, chopped
- 2 celery stalks, chopped
- 2 cups chicken broth
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Remove giblets and neck from turkey. Pat dry with paper towels.
- Mix butter with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, and rosemary.
- Rub butter mixture under the skin and all over the turkey.
- Stuff turkey cavity with lemon, onion, carrots, and celery.
- Place turkey on a rack in a roasting pan. Pour chicken broth into the pan.
- Roast for 3-4 hours, basting every 30 minutes, until internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Let rest for 20 minutes before carving.
Notes
- Use a meat thermometer for accurate doneness.
- Adjust cooking time based on turkey size.
- Tent with foil if turkey browns too quickly.
