This classic homemade green bean casserole is the perfect side dish for any holiday meal. It’s creamy, savory, and topped with crispy fried onions for that perfect crunch.

- 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed and cut into 2-inch pieces
- 1 can (10.5 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup crispy fried onions, divided
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large pot of boiling salted water, blanch the green beans for about 5 minutes until bright green and slightly tender. Drain and set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, black pepper, and salt. Mix well.
- Stir in the blanched green beans, shredded cheddar cheese, and half of the crispy fried onions.
- Transfer the mixture to a greased 2-quart casserole dish.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
- Remove from the oven and sprinkle the remaining crispy fried onions on top.
- Return to the oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the onions are golden brown.
- Let it cool slightly before serving. Enjoy!
