- 1 (30 oz) package frozen hash browns, thawed
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup crushed corn flakes (optional, for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the thawed hash browns, sour cream, cream of chicken soup, 1 cup of cheddar cheese, chopped onion, melted butter, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly combined.
- Transfer the hash brown mixture to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
- If using, sprinkle the crushed corn flakes evenly over the top of the hash brown mixture.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the casserole is golden brown and bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Top with the remaining 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese, letting it melt before serving.
Notes
- You can add cooked bacon or sausage for extra flavor.
- Feel free to substitute the cheddar cheese with your favorite cheese.
- This casserole can be made ahead of time and refrigerated before baking. Just add an extra 10-15 minutes to the baking time.
