  • 1 (30 oz) package frozen hash browns, thawed
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup crushed corn flakes (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the thawed hash browns, sour cream, cream of chicken soup, 1 cup of cheddar cheese, chopped onion, melted butter, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly combined.
  3. Transfer the hash brown mixture to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
  4. If using, sprinkle the crushed corn flakes evenly over the top of the hash brown mixture.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the casserole is golden brown and bubbly.
  6. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Top with the remaining 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese, letting it melt before serving.
