Description
A classic green bean casserole made with fresh green beans, creamy mushroom soup, and topped with crispy fried onions.

- 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed and cut into 1-inch pieces
- 1 can (10.5 ounces) cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup crispy fried onions
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large pot of boiling salted water, blanch the green beans for about 5 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp. Drain and set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Add the blanched green beans to the soup mixture and stir until the beans are evenly coated.
- Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13 inch baking dish. If desired, sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
- Remove from the oven, stir the mixture, and then top with crispy fried onions.
- Return to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the onions are golden brown and the casserole is bubbly.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
- For added flavor, consider adding garlic powder or sautéed mushrooms to the mixture.
- This casserole can be prepared ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator before baking.
