Description
A classic green bean casserole made with tender green beans and a creamy mushroom sauce, topped with crispy fried onions.

- 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
- 2 cups cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup crispy fried onions
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large pot of boiling salted water, blanch the green beans for about 5 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp. Drain and set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, black pepper, and salt. Mix well.
- Add the blanched green beans and half of the crispy fried onions to the mixture. Stir until well combined.
- Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13 inch baking dish. Spread it evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
- Remove the casserole from the oven and sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese and remaining crispy fried onions on top.
- Return to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and the onions are golden brown.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use homemade cream of mushroom soup instead of canned.
- You can add cooked bacon or sautéed mushrooms for additional flavor.
- This casserole can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator before baking.
