  • Author: ushinzomr

Description

This easy green bean casserole is a classic dish made with fresh green beans, creamy mushroom soup, and crispy fried onions. Perfect for holidays or family gatherings!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 1/2 cups crispy fried onions, divided

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large pot of boiling salted water, add the green beans and cook for about 5 minutes until tender but still crisp. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, and black pepper. Mix well.
  4. Add the cooked green beans to the soup mixture and stir until well combined.
  5. Transfer the green bean mixture to a 2-quart baking dish and spread evenly.
  6. Sprinkle 1 cup of the crispy fried onions on top of the green bean mixture.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
  8. Remove from the oven and sprinkle the remaining fried onions on top.
  9. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes, or until the onions are golden brown.

Notes

  • For a homemade version, you can use freshly sautéed mushrooms instead of cream of mushroom soup.
  • Feel free to add shredded cheese to the mixture for extra flavor.
