A classic comfort dish made with fresh green beans, creamy mushroom sauce, and crispy onions, perfect for holiday gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed and cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup crispy fried onions

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large pot of boiling water, blanch the green beans for about 5 minutes until bright green. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, milk, cheddar cheese, soy sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well blended.
  4. Add the blanched green beans to the soup mixture and stir gently to coat.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a 9×13-inch baking dish and spread evenly.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
  7. Remove from oven and sprinkle the crispy fried onions on top.
  8. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, until the onions are golden brown.
  9. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For added flavor, sauté some chopped onions and garlic in butter before adding to the soup mixture.
  • You can substitute fresh green beans with frozen green beans if fresh ones are not available, but make sure to thaw and drain them before mixing.
