  • 4 hoagie rolls or French bread
  • 4 slices provolone cheese
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add sliced onions and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  2. Pour in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, and bring to a simmer. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Add the sliced roast beef to the broth mixture, allowing it to heat through, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Slice the hoagie rolls in half and place a slice of provolone cheese on each half.
  6. Place the rolls in the oven for about 5-7 minutes or until the cheese is melted.
  7. Remove the rolls from the oven and fill each with the heated roast beef mixture.
  8. Serve the sandwiches with a small bowl of the au jus for dipping. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired.
