Ingredients

- 0.25 tsp salt
- 0.5 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 0.5 cup brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 0.5 cup molasses
- 1 cup hot water
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a loaf pan.
- Whisk flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt in a bowl.
- Cream butter and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the egg and molasses.
- Gradually mix in dry ingredients, alternating with hot water.
- Pour batter into the loaf pan. Bake for 50-60 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
- Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
- For extra flavor, add 0.5 cup chopped nuts or raisins.
