  • 1 large egg
  • 0.5 cup molasses
  • 1 cup hot water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a loaf pan.
  2. Whisk flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Cream butter and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the egg and molasses.
  4. Gradually mix in dry ingredients, alternating with hot water.
  5. Pour batter into the loaf pan. Bake for 50-60 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
