Description

Delicious sourdough cinnamon rolls made with a discarded starter.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sourdough starter
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup raisins (optional)
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and cinnamon.
  2. In another bowl, mix sourdough starter, milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla.
  3. Combine wet and dry ingredients; mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough for 5 minutes.
  5. Let it rise for 1 hour.
  6. Roll out the dough into a rectangle.
  7. Spread brown sugar and cinnamon over the dough.
  8. Add raisins and nuts if desired.
  9. Roll the dough tightly and cut into rolls.
  10. Place rolls in a greased baking dish.
  11. Let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  12. Bake at 350°F for 25-30 minutes.
  13. Let cool before serving.

Notes

  • Use any leftover sourdough starter.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container.
  • Reheat in the microwave for a few seconds to enjoy warm.
