Description
Delicious sourdough cinnamon rolls made with a discarded starter.
Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup sourdough starter
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup raisins (optional)
- 1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and cinnamon.
- In another bowl, mix sourdough starter, milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla.
- Combine wet and dry ingredients; mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for 5 minutes.
- Let it rise for 1 hour.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle.
- Spread brown sugar and cinnamon over the dough.
- Add raisins and nuts if desired.
- Roll the dough tightly and cut into rolls.
- Place rolls in a greased baking dish.
- Let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- Bake at 350°F for 25-30 minutes.
- Let cool before serving.
Notes
- Use any leftover sourdough starter.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container.
- Reheat in the microwave for a few seconds to enjoy warm.
