Ingredients

- 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 cup grated Gruyere cheese
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp butter, melted
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Mix Parmesan and Gruyere in a bowl.
- Layer half the potatoes in a greased baking dish.
- Sprinkle half the cheese mixture over the potatoes.
- Repeat with remaining potatoes and cheese.
- Pour cream over the layers and drizzle with melted butter.
- Season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes until golden and crispy.
- Let rest for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
- Use a mandoline for even potato slices.
- Let the gratin rest to set before cutting.
- Substitute half-and-half for a lighter version.
