- 2 large onions, sliced into 1/4-inch rings
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper.
- Dip onion rings in the flour mixture, then in the buttermilk, and finally coat with breadcrumbs.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C).
- Fry the onion rings in batches until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Remove and drain on paper towels. Serve hot.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add spices to the flour mixture.
- Make sure the oil is hot enough before frying to achieve a crispy texture.
