  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 1 tablespoon garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder (adjust to taste)
  • 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup (240ml) heavy cream
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro, for garnish
  • Cooked basmati rice, for serving
  • Naan, for serving

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped onion and cook until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the garlic and ginger, cooking for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Add the chicken pieces to the skillet and cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Sprinkle in the garam masala, cumin, coriander, turmeric, and chili powder; stir well to coat the chicken.
  6. Pour in the crushed tomatoes and bring the mixture to a simmer. Cook for 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  7. Reduce the heat and stir in the heavy cream, cooking for an additional 5 minutes until the sauce is creamy and heated through.
  8. Season with salt to taste.
  9. Serve hot with basmati rice and naan, garnished with fresh cilantro.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add more chili powder or fresh chopped chilies.
