- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1/2 cup dried cranberries
- 1 tbsp orange zest
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Cut in cold butter using a pastry cutter or fingers until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in cranberries and orange zest.
- In a separate bowl, mix cream, egg, and vanilla.
- Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
- Turn dough onto a floured surface and shape into a 1-inch thick circle.
- Cut into 8 wedges and place on the baking sheet.
- Bake for 15-18 minutes until golden brown.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- For extra flavor, brush scones with cream and sprinkle sugar before baking.
- Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
