Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook until onion is translucent.
  4. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 20 minutes.
  5. Cook lasagna noodles according to package directions; drain and set aside.
  6. In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, and a pinch of salt.
  7. Spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  8. Layer 3 lasagna noodles over the sauce, followed by half of the ricotta mixture, half of the meat sauce, and one third of the mozzarella cheese.
  9. Repeat the layers, finishing with noodles, meat sauce, and remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top.
  10. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes or until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  11. Let it cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
