Sweet Endings to a Fiesta

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup of cocoa powder
  • 2 cups of granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup of vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup of milk
  • 1 cup of chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
  • 1 cup of whipped cream for topping
  • Fresh berries for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix together eggs, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, and milk until well combined.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. If using nuts, fold them in now.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Allow to cool completely, then cut into squares.
  8. Top each square with whipped cream and garnish with fresh berries before serving.

Notes

  • For an extra festive touch, consider adding a sprinkle of cinnamon to the batter or topping.
  • You can substitute the nuts with chocolate chips for a different flavor.
  • These brownies can be made a day in advance and stored in an airtight container.
