Description
This rich and creamy chocolate flan cake is a perfect dessert to celebrate Cinco de Mayo, combining the flavors of traditional flan with moist chocolate cake.

- 1 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
- 1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
- 4 large eggs
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup chocolate cake mix
- Whipped cream for serving
- Fresh berries for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a small saucepan, combine sugar and water over medium heat. Stir until sugar dissolves. Increase heat and bring to a boil without stirring until golden brown. Pour caramel into a round cake pan, tilting to coat the bottom evenly.
- In a blender, combine cream cheese, sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, eggs, cocoa powder, vanilla extract, and chocolate cake mix. Blend until smooth.
- Pour the chocolate mixture over the caramel layer in the cake pan.
- Place the cake pan in a larger baking dish and fill the baking dish with water until it reaches halfway up the sides of the cake pan.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Remove from the oven and let cool. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- To serve, run a knife around the edges of the cake pan and invert onto a serving plate. Top with whipped cream and fresh berries.
Notes
- For an extra festive touch, consider adding a sprinkle of cinnamon or a drizzle of chocolate sauce on top before serving.
- This dessert can be made a day in advance, making it a perfect choice for celebrations.
