- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
- Whisk flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
- Add milk, oil, eggs, and vanilla. Mix until smooth.
- Gradually stir in boiling water. Batter will be thin.
- Divide batter between pans and bake for 30-35 minutes.
- Cool cakes for 10 minutes, then remove from pans.
- Whip heavy cream and powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.
- Spread cream filling on one cake layer and top with the second.
- Melt chocolate chips and pour over the cake as glaze.
- Chill for 1 hour before serving.
Notes
- Use room temperature eggs for better mixing.
- Do not overmix the batter.
- Let the glaze set before slicing.
