Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, chopped
  • 1 ½ cups chocolate ganache (made with 1 cup heavy cream and 8 ounces chocolate)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add softened butter, eggs, vanilla, and buttermilk. Mix until smooth.
  4. Fold in chopped strawberries.
  5. Pour batter into a greased cake pan.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Let the cake cool completely.
  8. Prepare chocolate ganache and spread over the cooled cake.
  9. Top with additional strawberries if desired.
