Chinese Beef and Onion Stir-Fry: 15-Minute Irresistible Meal

  • Author: ushinzomr

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 2 bell peppers, sliced (red and green)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 1/4 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooked rice, for serving

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine sliced beef, soy sauce, and cornstarch. Mix well and let marinate for 15 minutes.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add the marinated beef in a single layer and cook for 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove beef from the pan and set aside.
  3. In the same pan, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the sliced onion and bell peppers, and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until they start to soften.
  4. Add minced garlic and ginger to the pan, and stir-fry for an additional minute until fragrant.
  5. Return the beef to the pan, and pour in the beef broth and oyster sauce. Stir everything together and cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens and the beef is heated through.
  6. Drizzle with sesame oil, season with salt and pepper to taste, and serve over cooked rice.

Notes

  • You can add other vegetables such as broccoli or snap peas for extra nutrition.
  • For a spicier kick, add sliced chili peppers or a dash of chili sauce.
  • Make sure to slice the beef against the grain for tenderness.
