Description

Succulent pieces of chicken marinated in spices and yogurt, grilled to perfection.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450g) boneless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon garlic paste
  • 1 tablespoon ginger paste
  • 2 teaspoons garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder (adjust to taste)
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish
  • Lemon wedges for serving

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together yogurt, lemon juice, vegetable oil, garlic paste, ginger paste, garam masala, cumin, coriander, paprika, turmeric, chili powder, and salt.
  2. Add the chicken pieces to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.
  3. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. If using skewers, soak them in water for 30 minutes to prevent burning.
  4. Thread the marinated chicken pieces onto skewers, leaving a little space between each piece.
  5. Grill the chicken skewers for 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through and has nice grill marks.
  6. Remove from the grill and let rest for a few minutes before serving.
  7. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve with lemon wedges.

Notes

  • For a smoky flavor, you can grill the chicken on a charcoal grill or use a stovetop grill pan.
  • Serve with naan, rice, or as part of a salad for a complete meal.
  • Chicken tikka can also be used in wraps or sandwiches.
