Description
Succulent pieces of chicken marinated in spices and yogurt, grilled to perfection.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb (450g) boneless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon garlic paste
- 1 tablespoon ginger paste
- 2 teaspoons garam masala
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
- 1/2 teaspoon chili powder (adjust to taste)
- Salt to taste
- Fresh cilantro for garnish
- Lemon wedges for serving
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix together yogurt, lemon juice, vegetable oil, garlic paste, ginger paste, garam masala, cumin, coriander, paprika, turmeric, chili powder, and salt.
- Add the chicken pieces to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. If using skewers, soak them in water for 30 minutes to prevent burning.
- Thread the marinated chicken pieces onto skewers, leaving a little space between each piece.
- Grill the chicken skewers for 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through and has nice grill marks.
- Remove from the grill and let rest for a few minutes before serving.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve with lemon wedges.
Notes
- For a smoky flavor, you can grill the chicken on a charcoal grill or use a stovetop grill pan.
- Serve with naan, rice, or as part of a salad for a complete meal.
- Chicken tikka can also be used in wraps or sandwiches.
