A warm and comforting chicken soup.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 whole chicken, cut into pieces
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 2 cups water
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 carrots, sliced
- 2 celery stalks, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 cup egg noodles (optional)
Instructions
- In a large pot, combine chicken, broth, and water.
- Add onion, carrots, celery, garlic, thyme, salt, pepper, and bay leaves.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 1 hour.
- Remove chicken, shred meat, and return to the pot.
- If using, add egg noodles and cook until tender.
- Remove bay leaves before serving.
Notes
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Freeze for longer storage.
