Description
Homemade chicken noodle soup is a comforting dish made with tender chicken, vegetables, and noodles in a flavorful broth.
Ingredients

- 1 whole chicken (about 3–4 lbs)
- 8 cups chicken broth
- 2 cups egg noodles
- 2 carrots, sliced
- 2 celery stalks, diced
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 bay leaf
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a large pot, place the whole chicken and cover with chicken broth.
- Add carrots, celery, onion, garlic, thyme, and bay leaf.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 1 hour.
- Remove the chicken and let it cool.
- Shred the chicken, discarding the skin and bones.
- Add egg noodles to the pot and cook until tender.
- Return shredded chicken to the pot, season with salt and pepper, and heat through.
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- You can freeze the soup for up to 3 months.
- Use homemade or store-bought broth based on your preference.
