Description

A classic Swiss dish made with melted cheese served in a communal pot.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 200g Gruyère cheese
  • 200g Emmental cheese
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 300ml dry white wine
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp kirsch (cherry brandy)
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • Freshly grated nutmeg
  • Bread cubes for dipping

Instructions

  1. Rub the inside of the fondue pot with garlic.
  2. Heat wine and lemon juice in the pot over medium heat.
  3. Gradually add the grated cheeses, stirring until melted.
  4. Mix cornstarch with kirsch and add to the cheese mixture.
  5. Stir until the fondue is smooth and creamy.
  6. Season with pepper and nutmeg.
  7. Serve with bread cubes for dipping.

Notes

  • You can use other types of cheese if preferred.
  • Keep the fondue warm while serving.
