Description

Delicious bite-sized tartlets filled with sweet caramelized onions, perfect for appetizers or snacks.


Ingredients

  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp balsamic vinegar
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Heat butter and olive oil in a pan over medium heat.
  2. Add onions and cook until softened, about 10 minutes.
  3. Sprinkle sugar and salt, then cook for another 15-20 minutes until caramelized.
  4. Stir in balsamic vinegar and black pepper, then remove from heat.
  5. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  6. Roll out puff pastry and cut into small circles.
  7. Place pastry circles in a muffin tin, pressing gently.
  8. Fill each with caramelized onions and sprinkle Parmesan on top.
  9. Brush edges with egg wash.
  10. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  11. Serve warm.
