A rich and savory dip featuring caramelized onions and melted Gruyere cheese.
Ingredients

- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 cup shredded Gruyere cheese
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
Instructions
- Heat butter and olive oil in a pan over medium heat.
- Add onions, salt, and sugar. Cook until caramelized (about 25 minutes).
- Remove from heat and let cool.
- Mix Gruyere cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise, Worcestershire sauce, and black pepper in a bowl.
- Fold in caramelized onions.
- Transfer to an oven-safe dish.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20 minutes.
- Serve warm.
Notes
- Use sweet onions for better caramelization.
- Stir onions occasionally for even cooking.
- Dip can be made ahead and refrigerated before baking.
