Description
Capirotada is a traditional Mexican bread pudding made with layers of bread, cheese, and syrup.
Ingredients

- 6 cups bolillo bread, cubed
- 2 cups shredded cheese (Monterey Jack or Queso Blanco)
- 2 cups milk
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1/4 cup cinnamon
- 1/4 cup raisins
- 1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a saucepan, combine water, sugar, and cinnamon. Cook until sugar dissolves.
- Layer half of the bread cubes in a baking dish.
- Add half of the cheese, raisins, and nuts on top of the bread.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining bread, cheese, raisins, and nuts.
- Pour the milk and sugar mixture over the layers.
- Bake for 30-40 minutes until golden brown.
Notes
- Serve warm or at room temperature.
- Can be topped with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
