Instructions

  1. Wash and dry the apples thoroughly.
  2. Insert wooden sticks into the apples.
  3. In a saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water. Cook over medium heat.
  4. Stir until the sugar dissolves, then stop stirring.
  5. Bring the mixture to a boil until it reaches 300°F (hard crack stage).
  6. Remove from heat and add food coloring and vanilla extract.
  7. Dip each apple into the candy mixture, coating evenly.
  8. Place the coated apples on a greased baking sheet to cool.
