Description
Candy apples are a sweet treat made by coating apples in a hard candy shell.
Ingredients

- 4 medium apples
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup light corn syrup
- 1 cup water
- 1 teaspoon red food coloring
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Wooden sticks
Instructions
- Wash and dry the apples thoroughly.
- Insert wooden sticks into the apples.
- In a saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water. Cook over medium heat.
- Stir until the sugar dissolves, then stop stirring.
- Bring the mixture to a boil until it reaches 300°F (hard crack stage).
- Remove from heat and add food coloring and vanilla extract.
- Dip each apple into the candy mixture, coating evenly.
- Place the coated apples on a greased baking sheet to cool.

- Use firm apples for best results.
- Be careful when handling the hot candy mixture.
- Allow apples to cool completely before serving.
