Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 lb fresh strawberries, sliced

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Mix flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
  4. Stir in boiling water (batter will be thin). Pour into pans.
  5. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely.
  6. Heat cream until steaming, pour over chocolate chips, and stir until smooth for the drip.
  7. Assemble cake layers with frosting, pour chocolate drip over the top, and decorate with strawberries.
