Description
A rich and creamy Indian butter chicken recipe that’s easy to make at home. Tender chicken pieces are cooked in a flavorful tomato-based sauce with butter and cream.

- 500g boneless chicken, cubed
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 1 can (400g) tomato puree
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 tsp sugar
- Fresh coriander for garnish
Instructions
- Marinate chicken with yogurt, lemon juice, ginger-garlic paste, turmeric, chili powder, garam masala, cumin, and salt for at least 1 hour.
- Grill or pan-fry chicken until cooked through. Set aside.
- In a pan, melt butter and sauté onions until golden.
- Add tomato puree and cook for 5 minutes.
- Stir in cream, sugar, and cooked chicken. Simmer for 10 minutes.
- Garnish with fresh coriander and serve hot.
Notes
- For extra flavor, marinate chicken overnight.
- Adjust chili powder for preferred spice level.
- Serve with naan or basmati rice.
