Ingredients

  • 2 pounds beef stew meat, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup red wine (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
  • 2 tablespoons water (optional, for thickening)

Instructions

  1. Place the beef stew meat in the crock pot.
  2. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic on top of the beef.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the beef broth, red wine (if using), Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, thyme, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
  4. Pour the mixture over the beef and onions in the crock pot.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, until the beef is tender.
  6. If you prefer a thicker gravy, mix cornstarch and water in a small bowl. Add to the crock pot during the last 30 minutes of cooking, stirring to combine.

Notes

  • Serve over rice, mashed potatoes, or egg noodles.
  • You can add vegetables like carrots and potatoes to the crock pot for a complete meal.
