Description
This beef jerky recipe is perfect for making delicious, tender jerky using a dehydrator. It’s easy to prepare and packed with flavor.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 pounds of beef (top round or flank steak)
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for heat)
Instructions
- Trim any excess fat from the beef and slice it into thin strips, about 1/4 inch thick. For easier slicing, partially freeze the beef for about 1-2 hours before slicing.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, smoked paprika, and red pepper flakes. Mix well.
- Add the sliced beef to the marinade, ensuring all pieces are well-coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight for maximum flavor.
- After marinating, remove the beef from the marinade and pat dry with paper towels to remove excess liquid.
- Preheat your dehydrator according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Arrange the beef strips in a single layer on the dehydrator trays, making sure they do not overlap.
- Dehydrate the beef at 160°F (71°C) for 4 to 6 hours, or until the jerky is dry yet still slightly pliable.
- Once done, let the jerky cool completely before storing it in an airtight container. Enjoy your homemade beef jerky!
Notes
- For a sweeter jerky, add more brown sugar or honey to the marinade.
- Experiment with different spices and seasonings to customize the flavor to your liking.
- Store jerky in a cool, dry place for up to two weeks. For longer storage, keep it in the refrigerator or freezer.
